In the summer time, the Arctic fox, changes it's fur colour, to adapt to the colour of the new environment, which now does not have much snow; This helps them hide from predictors and sneak up on prey. There fur adapts to a brown and white colour as seen to the left of this page, which is very different to there winter colour above. As the Arctic Fox lives in one of the coldest parts of the planet its adaptations to survive this terrine are its deep, thick and the system that can exchange heat in the circulation to the paws to retain it's main supply of temperature also a large supply of body fat it also has a low surface area, you can see this by it's body shape, being short and small, there is not much area to become cold apart from the nose and paws, and since its doesn't have much surface area is exposed to the extreme cold this means less heat escapes the body. the fur which surrounds the paws allow the fox to walk on the ice when hunting for food. The Arctic Fox has such a high sensory system, especially in it's ears that it can locate exactly the position of its prey even under the snow. When the fox has finally found its prey, it pounces and punches through the snow and kills its victim.
